Spotify Wrapped 2022 is here, and everyone is getting a ‘music personality’ – BDStory

Spotify Wrapped is here, and with it a slew of year-end charts, data, and images ripe for sharing. Beyond the standard personal data (top artists, songs, etc.), Spotify is providing listeners with socially-friendly metrics that the company hopes will generate the kind of buzz it has had in the past, urging competitors like Apple Music and YouTube Music to produce their own year-end rounds.

The hottest new Wrapped goody is the “Music Personality” feature – a Myers-Briggs-esque system that analyzes how you listen and assigns you one of 16 flattering categories, such as “Adventurer,” “Fan Clubber,” and “Specialist.” It’s a smart move; be it the zodiac sign or the house of Hogwarts, the kids just love being categorized.

The new Wrapped also includes a breakdown of listeners’ habits throughout the day, breaking down what moods of music draw you into morning, noon, and night. And Spotify is bringing back artist messages where stars like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and J Balvin thank their fans for listening to them enough to get on their Spotify Wrapped.

Spotify has also unveiled the platform’s top artists, with Bad Bunny retaining its crown as the most streamed artist in the world. In the US, the top artists of 2022 (in descending order) were Drake, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Kanye West (uh-oh) and The Weeknd. The top podcasts were dominated by Spotify’s own programming, featuring The Joe Rogan experience lead the pack, followed by Call her daddy, Anything goes with Emma Chamberlain, Case 63and Crime junkie.
